Tetsuya Emura, Chairman
Mr. Emura stands as a prominent figure in the hospitality industry of Japan, serving for many years as COO of Watami Food Service Co., Ltd., one of the most successful franchisors and operators of more than five hundred dining establishments throughout Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Throughout his tenure with Watami, he assumed roles in Operations, R&D, Purchasing, Marketing, Human Resources, and Store Development. The rapid growth of the company under his leadership took the Watami portfolio public for the first time in its esteemed history. In 1998, he assumed the role of founding CEO of TGI Friday's Japan, Inc., in conjunction with Carlson Restaurants Worldwide, bringing the American brand to both Japan and the island country of Guam. He was responsible for bringing the Izakaya concept, with Restaurant Watami, to Hong Kong, again affording him the unusual opportunity of introducing a Japanese concept abroad. He left Watami to launch his own company, Dream Dining, which successfully opened its first restaurant venture, Shokudo, to critical and public acclaim in Hawaii. His second venture, Tokyo Table, opened in Beverly Hills California in December 2005, and in Arcadia in December 2007, Irvine in August, 2008. Expansion plans are underway for locations throughout Southern California.
